As the capital of Cameroon, Yaoundé has a population of 2.5 million, making it the country’s second-largest city and a center for civil and diplomatic services. The Encompass team serving here is focused on disciple-making, community development, and leadership training to meet the needs of growing churches in Central Africa.

The team also serves the missionary community through a partnership with The Greenhouse, a cooperative school that teaches preschool through 6th grade. As an intern, you will support the school’s ministry by serving as a teacher or teacher’s aide, offering quality education with a biblical worldview in a safe learning environment.

Who Can Go?

We invite you to consider this opportunity if you have a desire to serve in cross-cultural ministry, a supportive sending church, and if you have had a positive short-term missions experience. Our internships are designed for those who are college age and up. Some training and experience as a teacher or teacher’s aide is helpful.

What You Will Do…

  • Teach or assist teachers during all learning sessions
  • Teach or assist teachers with the ‘Specials’ rotation (PE, Library, Computer, Music, Art)
  • Work with individual students and small groups
  • Assist in various areas of school support as needed

What Encompass Does…

Both prior to and during the internship, Encompass will provide mentoring and training to facilitate your personal, professional, and spiritual growth. This includes the following:

  • Mentorship prior to deploying for initial orientation as well as assistance with travel preparations
  • Support with acclimation and orientation upon your arrival in country
  • Regular meetings between you and your mentor to discuss cultural adjustment, goals, and expectations
  • Evaluations between you and your mentor together with Encompass staff during and upon your return

How much?

The cost of this internship will vary depending on its duration and other factors, which will be determined during your application process. Estimated expenses include but are not limited to airfare, travel insurance, housing, transportation, food, ministry funds, and cultural activities.

  • 6-month internship: $7,000
  • 12-month internship: $2,000 per month (includes salary, health coverage, and pre-field training)
