Encompass World Partners is thrilled to welcome Grace Fluty, our new Deployment Specialist! In this role, she will get to know potential candidates, assess their overall health and readiness for missions, and help plan trips after the approval process is complete. Grace’s unique background, including her past professional roles and personal missions experiences, has perfectly prepared her for this critical work of sending healthy workers into the field.
Grace’s journey with missions wasn’t a straight path. After a difficult trip to Haiti in 2015, she initially felt that missions “doesn’t have to be my thing”. However, after meeting and marrying her husband, Patrick, who shares a strong passion for missions, her perspective began to shift. After a period of about a year and a half, both Grace and Patrick felt God was calling them back to missions. This led them to visit Ireland with Encompass, a trip which was “awesome and very hard”. Learning from that experience, Grace says, “Even a very mature Christian might not be prepared for what they encounter on the mission field,” which highlights the importance of the work she’ll now be doing.
After their trip to Ireland, Grace and Patrick led a trip to France through their church which further solidified their call to missions. “On that trip, God really honed some of our vision and excitement over missions,” Grace says. This, combined with her professional background, led her to feel that her new role was “tailor-made” for her.
Grace brings a wealth of relevant experience to her new role. Prior to joining Encompass, she worked part-time as a trauma counselor for young women. She believes this background was a direct preparation from God, saying, “I feel like the ability to… step into someone’s story in a way that is gracious, and honoring is something God’s been preparing me for, for a long time as a counselor”. This skill of listening without judgment will be crucial in meeting with potential candidates. Additionally, her part-time work at her church included a ministry focused on sharing the Gospel. In that role, she was responsible for organizing and planning trips, giving her valuable administrative skills, which are directly applicable to her new position!
It’s clear that this role is what God has for Grace during this next season of her life, and we’re so excited to see how God uses her unique gifts to support others in their own journeys with missions!
