Freya (Pappas) Varner Hospitalized in Africa

Freya (Pappas) Varner Hospitalized in Africa

UPDATE 10/04/2016, 4:00 PM: Freya is now home again with her family and happy that her problems didn’t turn out to be what she had feared. It was determined that the antimalarial mefloquin is to be blamed.

AN EKG had implied potential blockage, but mefloquin can produce similar symptoms. She will be changing to malerone instead, and will return to the hospital in two weeks to retest unless other symptoms occur before then. Freya is thankful for the medical team who treated her, and for everyone who prayed. She says, "God has this under control. I'm just glad to have been given another day."

Please pray for Freya (Pappas) Varner, daughter of long-time Encompass staff members serving in Germany, John and Becky Pappas. She and her family (husband and five children) are currently doing a one-year missions internship in Tanzania, Africa.

She was admitted to the hospital there yesterday with potentialy serious heart problems. The doctors are currently conducting tests and they feel she is in good hands. Please pray for healing, for wisdom for the doctors and for peace in the hearts of Freya, her family, and John and Becky.
