This year Encompass World Partners will once again be sponsoring the Great Commission Fast. During the month of Ramadan, July 20-August 18, 2012, Muslim people will be fasting from food and water during daylight hours to devote more time to prayer. The Great Commission Fast encourages Christians to fast from something important to them during Ramadan, in order to devote more time in prayer for the Muslim world.
Last year’s participants fasted, prayed, and gave to Encompass World Partner ministries that were reaching out to Muslim people. The money received last year was used for medicines and vitamins to assist a poor community outside of a major Muslim city in the Middle East. The clinic manager had been going to this group for some time but lacked the means to assist them with some anemia issues. The people have been very appreciative of the help. One man said that he was going to name his new child “Isa” since the Christians have been the only ones that have given them the kindness of Jesus. He wanted his child to remember the kindness she had received when she grows up.
This year we are challenging participants to gain a whole new view by joining the Great Commission Fast. You can get involved by praying for the Muslim people during Ramadan, by fasting from something important to you, and by giving to Encompass World Partners ministries that are reaching out to Muslim people.
