On May 2, 2010, Walter Testa, team leader for Mexico and Central America, met with several men to discuss plans for a new church plant in Toluca, the 5th largest city in Mexico with a population of several million. It is the capital of the State of Mexico which almost completely surrounds the Federal District (DF) otherwise known as Mexico City. It would be as Maryland is to DC. It is a strategic point. This venture requires much prayer.
Also please be in prayer for the 4th Encounter of Latin American Leaders, June (11-13) with leaders coming from four countries. All the invited leaders are focused on mssions and several of them are missionaries in the field. The purpose of the Encounte is to encourage and train each leader in a way that will renew vision, so they will be able to continue extending the work of God in Mexico and Central America.
Cocrimex, FGBC church in Mexico City, is launching a church-wide discipleship campaign this year. The goal is to get all those who want to disciple and those who want to be discipled together and set them on the road to learning and experiencing together the Christian life. This is a huge goal. The campaign will be touching the lives of women, men, teens and children. Brenda and Bess (GBIM staff Mexico) are working on materials for all these age levels and praying to see God change many lives.
Pray for wisdom for Brenda and Bess as they work on these materials.
Pray that there will be a wide interest among the members of the church and faithfulness in attending the sessions.
Pray that the church will grow in healthy ways as a result of this campaign.
Pray for the Encounter of Latin American leaders, that the men will have the finances necessary to participate in this year's meetings. encounter
