Good News on Kurt Ezel

Melina Ezel writes, "Thank you so very much for all of the emails and promises of prayer that we have received in the last few days. It is a wonderful thing to be in God's family at times like this. Today I have only good news to share and know you will rejoice with us, taking time to thank God for His great mercy and grace.

This morning I received news from Matthias's sister and brother who both were with Kurt yesterday. He has woken up! He is out of the coma and is responding to people though he is still too weak too speak. His kidneys are working again, 100%! He is smiling, recognizes the family again. My sister in law found a brochure at the hospital that had a picture of our Emmie in it, taken during one of her pacemaker check-ups, so she showed it to Kurt and he gave a big smile in response. Dear friends, we thank you so much for bringing Kurt so faithfully before God in prayer. Our loving and compassionate God has done a miracle in him and we are truly overwhelmed by it. There is no medical reason why Kurt should have stopped regressing and turned to improving yesterday. But we are so thankful!

Medical tests continue. Actually some of his tests have shown signs of the swine flu of all things and they no longer suspect cerebral malaria. It is still important that they find the cause so that they can decide exactly how to treat him and speed his recovery. There is still infection in the brain that needs to be dealt with. He has a lot of difficulty breathing because of fluid built up in his air passages which he is too weak to cough out. This keeps him from resting well right now. He has to have his arms strapped down which he really doesn't like but he is not clear headed enough at this time to not pull all the tubes out should his hands be free. He is still being fed by a tube. So there is still plenty to pray about. Thank you so very much.

Matthias should be in Germany by now though I have not yet heard from him. I am glad that when he sees his dad today, his dad will be able to recognize and respond to him. And now I want to get this sent so that you can praise God with us!!"
