Becker Baby Update

becker08_webThank you for your prayers for Scott and Rebekah Becker and their unborn baby. Praise God that the baby's tranfusion went well yesterday! God even provided many opportunities to use the Beckers during this difficult time. Click below for a letter from Rebekah.

We want to THANK all of you for your prayers and support. I am a bit "knackered" as I only got about 2 hours of sleep last night in the hospital due to baby's delivering through the walls, women moaning, and new mammies coming in. Despite that we are praising God for so many things.

The baby did require a transfusion but the entire procedure took less than an hour. The results were immediate and good. There do not appear to be any negative side effects and despite warnings to me that the baby would not be active until this morning, he began moving around last night about 8.30 as the sedatives wore off. This morning the doctor reported that he looked great and was one of the "happiest" babies she had seen after a transfusion and he has been active ever since. Yes it is a boy! So we are praising God.

We continue to be amazed at God's hand all around us. Prior to going in to the hospital I stopped by a mom and tots group which I have supported a friend in starting at her church. As I looked around I realized that I had prayed for each and every one of the mothers and babies/pregnancies in attendance. They are not all believers (yet) but several gathered around me to pray for me! The one mom was one I had invited and told about the program and I had met and prayed with her in the hospital when I had David! What an emotional day!

Then our lab technician turned out to be a mom I had met two years ago at a mutual friend's house. She too is a Christian, and Peta, decided to stay with us for the procedure instead of going to a department mtg. She truly was the "Rock" as her name means and she explained the procedure in detail and what I would feel so I was more prepared. Afterward she prayed with us! I then was able to share with several moms and staff on the ward! Wow!

Thank you for your prayers, the doctors and staff were amazed at how well I was handling everything and I kept saying people are praying. I had opportunities to share very specifically about my faith and trust in God with a nursing student and another mom so thank you!!!

The outcome is that we will have two more transfusions most likely. With each procedure there are the same risks but the doctors are positive and hoping to get baby and I to 36 to 37 weeks as a result of the outcome of yesterday's procedure. The baby is big for his age and we are looking at a Christmas time gift of Baby number 4. We will continue to keep you posted and thank you again for all of your prayers and support! May God receive all the glory, honor, and praise!
