The World has come to Birmingham

The Kidoos write from Birmingham, England, which was the birthplace of the industrial revolution.  "Many years ago the Irish came for the jobs.  Then it was the Pakistanis and West Indians (from the English colonies in the Caribbean), and more recently people came from India and Eastern Europe.  Many have arrived as well from war-torn countries like Somalia, Iraq, Iran and now Syria.


Good News For Chad

We’ve been praying for MORE WORKERS and God has abuntly blessed. As of last week two new couples have been added to the team in Moundou, Chad.



CE National Hosts Luncheon For Fellowship of Grace Brethren Church Organizations

Hosted by CE National in the Russell Center, CE National invited the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Church national organizations to enjoy a luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 21st. Representatives from Encompass World Partners, Grace Schools, Grace Brethren Investment Foundation, Women of Grace, Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, Grace Connect/BMH Books, Serving My Master (SMM), and CE National attended. Staff from the organizations were introduced, a fun quiz game was played, and prayer requests were shared.

Mike and Myra Taylor are Special Assignment missionaries, working in partnership with Three Strands, focusing on medical ministry in Central Africa and Haiti.  On New Year’s Eve, Mike fell and broke his leg in two places.

Linda McCaman’s mother, Mabel Rose Hoefer, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 10, 2015, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter in Jonesboro, GA. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Parkview Church in Iowa City, Iowa. 


First Gathering of Church Equipping Network

The members of Encompass’ new Church Equipping Network are meeting in Lyon, France, January 11–14. In addition to getting better acquainted with their Director, Florent Varak, and each other, they are exploring ways to help the global Grace Brethren movement become more fruitful for Christ.


Pray for France

Please pray for God to work in the midst of the recent terrorist attack in Paris. We’ve been in touch with our leaders in France and none of our missionaries are in the affected areas. However, a number of Encompass travelers have been and will be arriving in Paris in anticipation of meetings next week.


Engage 5 begins in Atlanta

The newest Engage 5 group is here in Atlanta for their intensive training for long term (Engage), ministry in cross-cultural environments. While they are here they will be learning from the best in our Atlanta office, as well as engaging in relationships with some of the international people who live here. This group is a great variety of backgrounds and futures, there is a lot that they can teach each other as they walk through the training together. Please remember to pray for them as they learn, and grow into the missionaries that God has called them to be.

Do You Know Your Culture Type?

Many western believers do not know what culture type is, or how it can effect their perception of the gospel. For one culture type, the gospel is “good news” because Christ saves sinners from condemnation. For another culture type, it is “good news” because Christ removes our shame and restores honor.
