American Missionary Killed in Café Attack

An American missionary was among those killed after Al Qaeda fighters attacked a hotel and cafe in Burkina Faso’s capital of Ouagadougou. Michael Riddering, 45, died in the Cappuccino Cafe, where he was to meet a group that was going to volunteer at the orphanage and women’s crisis center he ran with his wife, Amy Boyle Riddering.

The first round of voting in the Presidential primaries in the Central African Republic were largely successful. Encompass has heard from a trusted source on the ground who says, "The first round of voting in the elections passed without problems.


Sadly, it’s time to put my Christmas pants away. I’m not ashamed to admit it: I enjoy some holiday R&R in an old pair of red and green flannel pajama pants (trousers for my British friends). There are so many great traditions to enjoy during this season, but my Christmas pants have become a personal favorite. Ironically and symbolically each year I put these comfy, warm, and stretchy pants back in the closet and kick into planning mode for the new year. I pull out a new calendar and inevitably start thinking about my New Year’s resolutions.

Celebrating Alice Peacock's Faithful Service

Alice Peacock served with Encompass World Partners for 35 years in Argentina before retiring in August 2015. On December 13, Executive Director Dave and Sue Guiles visited the Eagle Creek Grace Brethren Church (Indianapolis, IN) to recognize her faithful service. Eagle Creek was Alice's faithful and supportive sending church during her entire missionary career.


This is Chae. Last year I spoke at her Church about the Hand in Hand orphans in Central Africa. Chae was adopted from South Korea at 7 months old so stories of orphan children touched her heart. Instead of praying for a few days and returning to 'life as usual' she determined to make a difference.
