Though nominally a Christian nation with a great Christian heritage, many English are secularized. Statistics show only one in ten attends church on a monthly basis. England is an example of a post-Christian culture, though the church is stronger here than on much of the European continent. The English are susceptible to a wide range of beliefs from astrology to Buddhism, though they are likely materialistic, practical atheists. (source: Joshua Project)

Intercede

    1. Pray for growing maturity of believers in the churches and for their outreach to friends and neighbors through a wide variety of “relational bridges” including guitar clubs, film club, English classes, and sewing club.
    2. Pray for the strengthening of the two leadership teams through monthly training huddles and ongoing discussions.
    3. Pray for each church to know how to be a visible witness for the gospel in the context of governmental decisions which are making it increasingly difficult to live a faith-based life freely. (These include civil partnerships and attitudes about homosexuality, displaying visible signs of one’s faith, and how children can/should be trained.)
    4. Pray as the churches discern what strategic partnerships with other UK Christian groups will help to move the gospel forward.
    Rejoice
    1. Both Shirley and Frankley churches have taken several clear steps in the past year to grow in understanding their identity and role in the community.
    2. National leaders are taking more initiative to lead each church.

      Rejoice

        • Total People Groups:  105
        • Grace Brethren Churches:  2
        • Hostile media increasingly labels Christians as intolerant, and government regulations make it increasingly more difficult to evangelize in public.
